The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals today released an opinion in ABDALA v. INS, No. 06-55774, a habeas corpus appeal. The panel consisted of Barry G. Silverman, Kim McLane Wardlaw, and Jay S. Bybee, Circuit Judges.

Liban Abdala (”Abdala”) was ordered removed from the United States to Somalia as a result of his criminal convictions. While in Immigration and Naturalization Service (”INS”) custody, Abdala filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. ยง 2241 in which he challenged the length of his pre-deportation detainment.
